Tension, 2017

Computer animation, 1920×1080, 1 min 50 sec

The main principle of sketches on structural, compositional experiments is attention to balance and imbalance, the fragility of ties, and the loss of functions within the whole. All animation fragments here are similar as structures are created from uniform two-dimensional staple-like elements and motion is created via software algorithms that help to simulate physical interaction. In Tension, a certain invisible force is applied several times in different directions toward the orderly structure/net of staples, therefore the structure is brought to tumult and commotion. After a series of conflicting punches and the mass’s slight opposition/inertia in reverse directions, the composition is brought back to the starting static point.
