War Does Not Begin, 2015
Stop-motion, 1920×1080, duration 1 min 19 sec, with sound
In this animation, the staples make strategic maneuvers, preparing for a battle on the table, but when they come face-to-face with the enemy they bury themselves in the foam board, leave trails and holes and destroy the surface. The main action of the animation is the movement and rearrangement of blocks of staples. After several “power” exchanges and demonstrations between the staples, the surface becomes increasingly damaged and as a result, one large bracket easily breaks it apart at the end of the animation. The units prepare for a conflict but choose the avoidance strategy, which leads to a disaster. Are there times when conflicts require violence and aggressive actions?
